The Gabby Award Academy
The role of the Gabby Academy is to select the three nominees in each category for the 2011 Gabby Awards via a secret-ballot voting process.
Awards will be given in nine categories:
- Business/Entrepreneurism
- Politics/Public Service
- Philanthropy
- Promotion of Hellenism
- Athletics
- Education
- Arts, Culture & Media
- Performing Arts
- Science & Medicine
Academy members are not experts in all of the categories, but are good judges of “overall excellence.” They must work within the structure of the voting system and follow the parameters set forth by the Greek America Foundation. The Academy will begin voting in January 2011. Nominations will be announced the week of April 11, 2011. The winners will be announced at the Gabby Awards gala event on Ellis Island on June 4, 2011.
